Naked Pairs

Points. A naked pair is formed by any 2 cells that have candidates for only 2 digits that are in the same house. A naked pair is a naked subset of size 2. What Sudopedia Says.

 

 

Naked Pair, Row. In row 4, the two cells in columns 2 and 4 contain only two digits, 3 and 8. Therefore, digits 3 and 8 cannot be present elsewhere in the row and the red candidates can be removed.

 

 

Naked Pair, Column. In column 5, the two cells in rows 3 and 7 contain only two digits, 3 and 7. Therefore, digits 3 and 8 cannot be present elsewhere in the column and the red candidate 3 can be removed.
